The year that was!

As we dive headfirst into the festive season, and we start decorating trees and buying gifts, I wanted to take a moment to express my thanks to every one of you who has been involved with Bellies to Babies.

For nearly 19 years, I have been ‘walking the walk’ with parents, striving to make your journey brighter, positive, informed, armed with knowing all your options, and, of course, keeping it friendly and having a whole lot of fun on the way!

This year brought unexpected challenges, my cosy spot on Pakowhai Rd underwent a bit of a makeover courtesy of Mother Nature! It was heart-breaking to see the space that I’d created, destroyed like many other homes and businesses in our community. It was more than just a physical space; it was a haven where parents gained information, empowerment and reassurance, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, friendship, understanding, and compassion.

I still miss this space, the loss still impacts me and I’m still hurting, I’m not going to lie, it’s been really tough!

A heartfelt thank you to those of you who stepped in with replacement resources, support, donations and temporary venue suggestions. You guys rock!!

Throughout the year, our programs have made a significant impact with over 400 people attending antenatal classes either face-to-face or online, Yay!!!

The Baby & Infant 1st Aid course empowered 108 parents with essential life-saving skills, ensuring the safety and well-being of their little ones.

Our Baby Massage classes have proven to be a hit, with 94 people learning this fantastic parenting tool to calm, soothe, bond, and connect with their babies.

The Mums and Bubs Art & Craft monthly mornings have become a cherished space for mums to unleash their creativity and meet other like-minded parents.

And, I’ve shown over 250 people through our Maternity Units during the Guided Tours!!

As a parent, your Baby’s First Christmas is one that you will never forget, probably not for the gifts that you give to your baby (they certainly won’t remember them) but for the traditions that you choose to embrace as a family and the memories you'll be creating along the way. Focus on festive traditions your family can revisit and build upon each year to make sure your holiday happiness lives on—in your heart and your photos!

Take care, enjoy the festive season, see you in 2024!!
